This was originally about choosing a mod manager for FO4 after getting frustrated with NMM's issues. Now there are no alternatives, so I'm dealing with NMM alone. I need to look back at the relevant posts and see if someone can assist. In short, something is preventing NMM from accessing my assets folder and causing crashes when installing or removing mods.

Well, your main choice is Mod Organizer. Unless you're able to handle the mods yourself (some people are).

I own more than 130 mods, that sounds impressive. Mod organizer is another choice, but how well does it perform? You mentioned frustration with Nexus freezing and restarting—let’s see what else is available.

I rely on Steam Workshop or the built-in file manager on Windows. It’s the free option that comes with Windows. I used it to create Minecraft maps and texture packs.

You're unlikely to have that many Minecraft maps, right? I'm glad you're using Mod Organizer—it's a solid choice with millions of downloads. What else can I help you with?

If you saved everything, simply move them into the addons directory. I did this before L4d2 restricted workshop item access.

I've used MO for years. It's quite reliable and strong for me, though it takes more time to learn.

It's really frustrating right now. The installer didn't run properly, so I tried using an extract version which worked, but it kept asking for my game folder. I followed the usual steps: C > program files x86 > steam > steamapps > common > fallout 4. It showed an invalid path and said no game was found. However, when I opened the folder manually, everything looked correct. It seems like something is preventing it from loading today.

You're encountering an issue where no files appear and the system prompts you to choose a launcher, but one isn't available. *Ugh*, that's frustrating!

It isn't even compatible with fallout anymore. I just read a message from a year ago about another person facing the same problem, and someone replied that it doesn't work for it.
