Issues in Bridge Mode on DWR-923
I faced the same issue as before; the DWR-923 has bridge mode enabled but loses internet connection. Even though it receives an external IP and DNS addresses, I’m unsure if DNS is the problem. I wonder if there’s another factor at play beyond just bridge mode. Let me know if this happened to anyone else or what steps you took after enabling bridge mode. Cheers
It looks like the problem might be with your router. Have you tried resetting it to its original settings? If the DNS issue persists, temporarily changing a client to specific DNS servers (like Primary 1.1.1.1 and Secondary 1.0.0.1) could help verify. Also, ensure you can still trace to 8.8.8.8 even when DNS is faulty (on Windows, run cmd and type "tracert 8.8.8.8").
@Alex Atkin UK, I've reset the router multiple times. Every time it restarts in NAT mode, it functions perfectly. When I switch it to Bridge Mode, nothing comes through except the public IP address. Since my new Netgear router isn't connecting, I tried connecting my Mac instead—it gets the public IP but nothing else. I should try a trace route, though I'm not very familiar with that on my Mac. Looking for some guidance... Cheers.
Thread updated. @SBJERKE please begin a fresh thread rather than copying another person's one. Thanks.
Mac likely employs standard traceroute instead of tracert. Refer to the guidance on performing a traceroute in Mac OS X for more details.
Thanks! I'll let you know about anything interesting. In the meantime, I've updated the firmware to version 12, moving from v7. Hoping it works!
