Issues in a city affected by terrorism
I purchased GMod from Steam for TTT and other games, but since I haven’t played It before, I’m checking if I need a separate CS file. It should run without issues on its own, but having the correct texture files will ensure everything looks right. If you need it to work perfectly, make sure you download the appropriate assets from the official source.
In theory, it functions (as a feature) without CS:S. For optimal use, purchase and install CS:S, or obtain an add-on from the GMod Workshop. Short version: Buy CS:Source or use a workshop add-on.
When you set up CS:S with the Source SDK from the Tools library in Steam, texture issues should be minimal. It’s unclear precisely which versions cause problems, but skipping the 2013 SDKs usually helps. You might also test using only the Source SDK to see if many errors disappear. Since you already own CS:S, installing it fully is a good idea.
You can verify without errors by testing in a controlled environment first, then proceed with the SDK.
Before starting, make sure you've loaded everything and tried the game. The crashes aren't happening, but errors show up as pink and black checkerboards. If you notice walls with that pattern or big red glowing "ERROR" symbols, you're still encountering issues. Depending on the mod and map, textures and objects might be missing sometimes. This is less frustrating than playing Gmod alone where everything looks like a checkerboard with nothing else.
