I own an ASUS laptop with these details: 2 GB RAM, built-in graphics card, Intel Celeron CPU N2840, 64-bit OS. Recently in Task Manager I saw all my apps running in 32-bit mode (like Google Chrome, Steam, Java, Discord, etc.). I believe the issue is that my machine has 2 GB of RAM. Thank you very much.

It's fine as is; not every app needs to be 64-bit.

Oh ok can you give me at least a 64 bits program to check if its really this case.

Navigate to the control panel, then select System and Security, and finally choose the system. If you have a full-sized keyboard, you can press "windows + pause/break keys." This action displays the message: "System is ready for use."

I'm more worried about increasing the RAM to at least 8 gigabytes.

A 64-bit processor supports both 64-bit and 32-bit programs. 32-bit programs occupy less space on disk and require fewer memory resources than their 64-bit counterparts, typically using about 70-90% of the same application's size. However, this limitation means such applications can only utilize roughly 2-3 GB of RAM (for instance, Chrome’s tabs each count as separate apps, needing up to 2-3 GB). Given your system’s 2 GB RAM, there are no significant drawbacks to running many 32-bit programs, particularly if they don’t demand the advantages of 64-bit. For example, the Steam launcher operates efficiently without consuming large memory amounts—it merely displays game lists and browses the store. A lightweight 64-bit tool like Irfanview is a good choice: https://www.irfanview.com/ You can obtain either 32-bit or 64-bit versions... Another helpful program is Media Player Classic Home Cinema: https://mpc-hc.org/downloads/ If feasible, consider adding an extra memory stick or two with higher capacity. You might benefit from using DDR3L (low-voltage DDR3) at speeds of 1333 MHz or above; SO-DIMM modules are affordable and can noticeably boost laptop performance... e.g., 13$ for another 2 GB: https://www.newegg.com/kingston-2gb-204-...6820239853 or 18$ for 4GB: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-4gb-204-p...6820231697

The system uses a 64-bit OS with an x64 processor, matching the example you provided.

Everything works fine now. Following @mariushm's advice, having 2GB of RAM helps 32-bit apps run more efficiently. Still, consider upgrading to at least 4GB if possible—hard to run Windows 10 on just 2GB.

I rarely rely on my laptop unless I consider upgrading, then I’d opt for a PC or ask my cousins for parts. Also, I’m using Windows 8.0.

This situation doesn’t vary much. At work, I’ve occasionally reached the memory limits of 32-bit programs. For instance, a large CAD file caused my RAM usage to stay at 3.5Gb.
