Issues following the CPU adjustment
Issues following the CPU adjustment
TBH, before the CPU upgrade I faced some issues that I’ll walk through:
Hardware: PC specs included an AMD 7800X3D CPU, X670E motherboard, and a G.Skill Trident Z5 GPU. Memory was G.Skill Trident Z5 (F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5S or F5-6400J3239G16GA2-TZ5S).
After my 7700X failed (likely due to outdated BIOS), I swapped it in for the 7800X3D and updated the BIOS to version 2007 from 1303. Now the PC runs without major problems except:
- Restarting triggers error code 1A, which I don’t understand and can’t resolve.
- Booting from BIOS works fine, but Windows won’t launch normally.
- On Reddit I saw tips about disabling Fast Boot and checking RAM speed limits, but I’m not sure what those mean.
- RAM speed seems restricted—16GB sticks labeled 6400 MHz are showing only 4800 MHz in Task Manager. BIOS even says “RAM targeted speed 4800.”
- The kits only list “Intel XMP Ready,” not AMD DOCP, which might be the issue. It worked before, but now it doesn’t.
I’m hoping someone can help, thanks ahead of time. P.S. DOCP is active, currently set to DOCP II, but it’s still causing trouble.
