I faced a challenge with my Intel 7700k. It struggles to exceed 4.80GHz without overheating or crashing. Despite having a water cooler and good airflow, it still doesn’t reach the desired speed. The specs are solid, but thermal throttling keeps it stuck at lower frequencies. I’ve tried different voltages and even adjusted my multipliers, but nothing changes. It’s frustrating since I thought liquid cooling would help with such a small boost. Also, I’m curious if there’s a reason Intel is warning against overclocking this model—it seems they’re concerned about overheating. What does the 'K' on the back mean?

It relates to the Intel technology employed beneath the lid. Numerous people have adjusted theirs to achieve 5Ghz. Others who win the CPU lottery can reach 5Ghz without such changes, though they are rare.

I didn't see any mention of your CPU cooler.

I believe it wasn't always ensured that every 7700k would reach 5GHz.
