I possess four RAM modules: two 2x16GB and two 2x8GB models from G.Skill Ripjaws V. When tested separately or in pairs, everything functions properly. However, when all four are connected together, the D-RAM indicator on the motherboard repeatedly flashes, preventing the system from booting until I manually reset it. After resetting, the computer starts normally again. This issue occurs every time I power on the machine for the first time. I checked the ASUS website for a solution, but it didn’t resolve the problem. I noticed differences in labeling: 16GB sticks are marked as 16Gx2, while 8GB sticks show 8Gx1. Additionally, the 18D and 18S modules may indicate dual or single channel operation. I assumed these details wouldn’t affect performance, but I wanted to highlight them. What alternative options exist to enable simultaneous use of all RAM?
This could indicate that the 16 GB drives are dual-rank while the 8 GB ones are single-rank. Their capabilities aren't exactly the same. Using four memory modules tends to put more strain on the CPU's integrated memory controller compared to two, which might limit performance, particularly if there are discrepancies. Besides the ranking, the chips inside each stick could differ because they're from separate kits. Consider testing without XMP settings. What processor model do you have?
