I've been struggling with my head against the wall for a whole day, trying to resolve this issue but nothing seems to help. I shared another thread yesterday that mentioned this along with other problems my new computer had, and it got fixed temporarily. Now the issue is back, and the previous solution isn't working anymore. Whenever I play a YouTube video, I experience an unusual echo effect—not just a delayed repeat, but more like a sound bouncing in a huge cave or tunnel, making it feel like you're hearing the speaker in a big open space. I've tried updating sound drivers, restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling them, disabling other sound programs besides the one in the playback tab, checking for updates on other software, switching browsers, and testing different plugins (which I removed after seeing no improvement). Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm using Windows 8.1 on a MSI Ghost Pro 4K.

I didn’t think my software skills were enough to figure it out, so I checked the registry key. There might be a method to resolve this issue, but I’m not sure how to proceed.

1. Select the speaker beside the clock in your taskbar
2. Choose playback devices
3. Pick your standard or problematic playback device
4. Open properties
5. Navigate to the "adjustments" or "enhancements" section
6. Turn off all options
7. Confirm with OK
8. ??
9. Success! (Dutch phrase)

It’s not just a Windows issue at all—my Samsung S6 is an Android phone, and the Auditorium mode feels off. I’ve tried every fix but nothing works. I use YouTube far less now.

The problem has been fixed. The solution involves updating the software or checking system compatibility. Your girlfriend should try restarting her PC or reinstalling the relevant drivers.

Check if the system runs a Realtek chipset for sound. If so, instruct her to open Control Panel, start Realtek HD Audio Manager, navigate to Speakers/Digital Output, then Sound Effects. From the Environment menu, choose Disable.

I encountered an issue with the "stereo mix" option in the recording settings. By turning it off, the echo problem disappeared.

This solution functioned well for me. Essentially, I had to turn off one of the microphones.
