Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting and I’m looking for assistance.
I own an Astro a50 3rd gen for a long time and had some issues, but I managed to fix them. Now I upgraded to the A50 4th Gen right after using it. I’m experiencing a constant ticking noise in the headset. I tried turning off the mic and monitor, but it didn’t help. I assumed it was a defective headset, so I returned it and got the same one, which also had the same problem. I repeated this with the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but the issue persists. After updating drivers, it still happens. I’ve also tested it on a MacBook, but the problem remains. It seems like wireless interference is the cause, so I’ve moved the base station around my desk as far as possible without fixing it.
I’m considering returning the SteelSeries, but I’m not sure how to resolve this interference issue without changing my setup much.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am unfamiliar with these systems, but I would think it could be some interference or crosstalk. If the spec card is clear enough, it seems there is a base station that uses USB power. If that’s the case, consider shifting the power to another source like a backup system so you can observe if interference is introduced there. Also, it mentions operation on 2.4Ghz wireless; you might want to use a scanner tool to check for heavy traffic on that frequency and explore ways to reduce it.

There is a base station, it operates on 2.4 and it uses USB power. I've tested various USB ports, but the high traffic on 2.4 isn't easily adjustable in my configuration, so I don't think it's possible to fix it. The ticking is almost constant — . . . . . . . It sometimes stops but always resumes. My main confusion is that the Astro 3rd gen didn't have this issue either, even though it uses the same 2.4 frequency. Thank you for your reply.
Edit: the ticking sounds normal when read aloud — tick tick tick tick.

Without deeper familiarity with the device...
Does the USB connection solely supply power, or is it also used for transmitting audio to/from the PC and headset? For example, are there additional audio jacks connected elsewhere?

Ah, that really undermines what I was thinking
Do you have a choke from any other gear?
It’s usually a magnet that clicks into place over the cord, a small cylinder with a plastic casing.
I’ll admit I might be chasing the wrong answer.

I don't find it confusing at all since the issue happened on both my PC and laptop, and I've tested various USB cables.

Yes, that raises some questions too. Was the laptop connected to the wall outlet or operating on battery power? It seems possible it could be any number of scenarios in your home, given its popularity. It might even be outside your residence. I’m hoping you can clarify this. You can purchase chokes from Amazon. I’m not recommending this specific kit, but it could be a useful example. Simply place these over the power supply and/or audio lines to help minimize interference. Amazon.com offers: Pienoy 20 PCS EMI RFI Noise Filter Cable Ring/Noise Filter Suppressor Cable Clip for 3mm/ 5mm/ 7mm/ 9mm/ 13mm Diameter/Video Cable Power Cord (Black) – Electronics. My personal experience with them relates to older home intercom systems that tend to pick up interference easily.
