Hello. This has happened twice while using my PC: the monitor went black and the sound from the speakers disappeared completely. All fans were still operating normally (I used MSI Afterburner to adjust the GPU fan curve, and they behaved as expected). Pressing or holding the power button had no effect; I had to turn off the power outlet switch.

The PC started up correctly, though only the login screen displayed the default image instead of a random landscape picture. In the reliability history and event viewer, there was nothing indicating a crash or any other issue—only that the system didn’t shut down properly at the moment I turned off the power switch, with no events before that. The event viewer is also quite complex to use.

I’m unsure what to do next. Are there any additional logs elsewhere? This situation is unfamiliar to me; I haven’t encountered anything similar before.

The essential part to consider is your PSU. What model do you have?

Sorry, I didn't even notice that! The PSU is an EVGA Supernova 650 G6.
After assembling the PC, I always checked temperatures during games with the RTSS OSD, and everything seemed normal (though I'm not sure what values to enter).
Both times it occurred during a game, with GPU temps around 45°C and CPU at about 40°C, while in-game temps reached up to 55°C.
I re-enabled the OSD to monitor temperatures now, but it still appears everything is fine.
I rarely experience any FPS drops in this game.
Earlier, there were crashes in another game, but they stopped after I replaced some components. Since then, everything has worked perfectly.

The PSU should be fine. Consider updating your motherboard BIOS first.

Thank you. I'm going to look into how that works. I didn't try it at first since I was told to back up all my data beforehand in case something went wrong. My old external drive stopped working and I couldn't get a replacement yet, so I put another internal SSD on it but it didn't allow me to save anything. Eventually, I gave up and forgot about it.

Ensure you obtain the BIOS matching your exact motherboard model. There are multiple versions available. The tool within your BIOS can identify and halt the process if the incorrect version is used. If uncertain, consult the mainboard section on CPU-Z for details.

I tried to update the BIOS today but was unsure which version to choose. The manufacturer's site lists F9 from November and F20 from December, but some users reported problems with the F20 version. Should I stick with F9 for stability or go with F20 despite the issues? Since I'm new to this, I want to avoid switching between different versions.

I just made a few changes, then pressed the reboot button after the update, followed by DEL after reboot. The BIOS is now updating from F7 to F20 again. I’m hoping this doesn’t cause any problems...?

After the second update, the reboot screen was much larger. Now it shows F20, and the BIOS setup screen looks completely different. Could this help with the real issue?
