Issue with UDR affecting VPN link to main LAN IP address
Hello everyone, I’m facing a specific issue with the Ubiquiti Dream Rooter. My main LAN is set up as 10.10.10.0/24 with a gateway at 10.10.10.1 and DHCP range from 10.10.10.30 to 10.10.10.130, plus a VPN-LAN 10.10.11.0/24. I need to connect my laptop via VPN so it can reach the main PC running an SQL database. The “auto way” creates a separate LAN for the VPN, which works fine. However, the program only connects when the IP is on the same subnet. I’m trying to set up a VPN that always gives me an IP from 10.10.10.0/24, but so far it’s not working reliably. I’ve followed all the steps but had to reset everything after the VPN stopped functioning. Any suggestions or alternatives would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your feedback. The main PC is always in use, which prevents me from using any remote desktop solution. This is why I required a VPN initially. The support response clarifies that only another machine with the same subnet IP and a /24 network can connect to the SQL database running on the main PC. My TpLink Archer successfully established an L2TP VPN without IPsec, receiving an automatically assigned IP via DHCP. An article mentioned some users managed to obtain IPs from the main LAN to USG and Controller 5.5.19 using SSH configuration to enable VPN remote access. I attempted this setup and the VPN connection stopped working entirely.
