Issue with the newly built system, mainboard appears to be faulty.
Hi everyone!
Three weeks back I put together a fresh PC, which was functioning properly... until today it ceased working.
Here’s what the parts are:
Case – bequiet! Silent Base 802
Mainboard – AsusROG STRIX B760-F
Power Supply – ASUS ROG Strix 750W Gold Aura Edition
CPU – Intel i5-14600KF
CPU Cooler – Noctua NH-D15
GPU – Gigabyte 4070 Super Gaming OC
Storage – Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB
RAM – Kingston FURY Beast 2*16GB, DDR5-5600, CL36-38-38
Initially, everything operated smoothly on Windows 11. Now there’s no power reaching the system. The fans won’t start and no status lights appear on the mainboard. I’ve tried everything—both with and without the graphics card installed.
- First, I verified all connections; they were still secure and there were no loose wires or bent components.
- PSU: My inspection suggested it was fine. I briefly powered it up and both fans and RGB lights functioned. The 24-pin connector appeared intact. After reinstalling everything, the system failed again. Both the fan and RGB stayed off. When I reassembled it, they turned on automatically.
- Next, I checked the front panel. Perhaps a fault was under the power button area. I manually shorted the power switch pins, but nothing changed.
- Mainboard: With the power supply connected, no response was detected. Generally, the board showed no power indicators and had no error lights. I tested different RAM modules individually without success and performed a CMOS reset.
* The only LED from the network cable plugged in lit up, or maybe the light came from the connection itself? All other indicators are off.
This inability to manually activate the mainboard is quite concerning.
I’m hoping someone can help identify the issue—possibly pointing out a single faulty component rather than multiple ones. As a newbie in assembly, I’m unsure, but as long as it worked before, it seemed stable.

Your board can restore its BIOS if it becomes corrupted.

Thank you for your feedback. The function continues to behave unexpectedly. The status light stays solid even after over 30 minutes. I've also repeated the steps without success. The USB device performed well during the Win11 installation, I formatted it, and placed the renamed BIOS file on it, but nothing changed. I will now check the screws and spacers included with the case again. What might be causing this issue? Could there be a short circuit on the board? The power supply seems fine—it operates independently and can handle the case fans. However, once it reaches the mainboard, that’s where the problem stops. A 24-pin cable works, and fan control functions properly. I’ve already tried two 8-pin CPU cables. As discussed before, I can’t manually start the mainboard, avoiding the front panel button and cables. The pins appear correct. My focus is now on a possible short circuit or other hidden issue.
