Issue with the new motherboard causing internet failure.
Hello, I recently upgraded my CPU, RAM, memory, M.2 drive, and power supply. I’m finding the performance impressive, but I’m facing significant issues with my network. My motherboard is an MSI PRO B660M-B. When streaming or using normal applications, the connection works fine most of the time. Problems arise only occasionally—sometimes once every hour or a few times during 20 minutes of gaming. After reconnecting, it usually happens within 10 to 20 seconds. However, I don’t see the X(link) indicator in the network monitor on my taskbar. In Task Manager, the connection drops to 0 Mbps until it reestablishes. I’ve tried a few solutions: updating Windows, using an older preinstalled version, connecting directly with old LAN cables without a router, and changing the duplex speed in BIOS. Still, nothing seems to resolve the issue. This seems unusual compared to my previous setup.
Checked the BIOS update and installed the newest drivers from the manufacturer’s site. No further action needed.
Open Command Prompt and run the following commands:
- Set up a ping to the router on your local machine.
- Run a test from an external device or network.
If the ping fails consistently, the issue likely lies with your Internet Service Provider.
I didn't encounter that issue before with my previous motherboard. There might be a new feature in the current motherboard that I should inform the ISP about so it can be enabled for me.
Search for Realtek Pro drivers compatible with your NIC chipset. Confirm if your router supports 1Gb or 2.5Gb speeds—many users report problems with 2.5Gb NICs. Consider setting the connection to static 1Gb for stability.
