Recently I purchased a new motherboard, CPU, and RAM sticks. Everything started working properly until I realized my network wasn’t detected. I have an Ethernet cable from my modem to the LAN port on my computer, but it still displays no connection. I opened Device Manager to update drivers, but the adapter isn’t listed. I was told Windows should automatically recognize networks, yet it doesn’t appear. I’ve restarted my computer three times, each time reinserting the Ethernet cable.

Verify BIOS settings. It’s common to check network connections through the motherboard, especially since new boards often support BIOS updates via networking. You might find an option to disable WLAN on the board itself. Also consider dual NIC configurations—ensure you’re using the correct port. Without a model or images, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact issue.

I'm just starting out, a friend suggested this place is supportive, so I decided to give it a shot. I looked through bios and the only choice available was "LAN Option Rom."

Sure, I'll try to rephrase that for you. Did I come across as too formal or dismissive? If you're unsure, I'm here to help. Could you tell me what kind of motherboard you have? Also, did you look at the back of your motherboard to confirm it has two LAN ports instead of one?

The side with all the ports has just one LAN port. I also have a B360 MSI.

You're asking about the availability of 14 motherboards featuring the B360 chipset on MSI.

Check the back of your system for any lights on the port—typically green or orange. Download the drivers, unzip them, and run the installer. Windows might lack the right drivers, causing the LAN adapter to appear as an unknown device in Device Manager. Refer to the provided link: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/Intel_Network_300.zip. In BIOS settings, navigate to Advanced → Integrated Peripherals → Onboard LAN Controller and ensure it’s enabled under the LAN option. If not listed, investigate further—this could indicate an issue beyond a standard setup.

1.) Yes, there’s an orange light and a yellow light that flashes intermittently.
2.) Installing anything isn’t possible since I don’t have a functional backup computer with internet access; I might need to move elsewhere and transfer the data to a USB drive.
3.) Everything is already set up as it was before I arrived.
