I placed my GPU in the top slot of the motherboard and it didn't work. When I connected it to the bottom slot, it did function. I've done several things: re-seated RAM, CPU, and GPU; tried building outside the case; verified all power connections; ensured BIOS was current; used a known working GPU; tested different slot types (Auto, PCIe3, PCIe4); switched PSU; followed the RMA process with Asus, who couldn't reproduce the issue. They suggested opening a new RMA as a precaution. With the specs you provided, it seems like a hardware fault or compatibility problem. Would it be better to replace the motherboard rather than risk further damage?

Check the highest positions for any code in the top-right corner—does the MB display any hints there? And was this model built from scratch?

Yes, this is a new build and the white VGA light stays on when it's in the top slot.

It seems the issue occurs with faulty or dead hardware. You should test alternatives like another GPU in the top slots or try using just one RAM stick. I suspect there might be a DMA controller involved.

If the CPU were faulty, would it still let me boot completely normally from the bottom slot? That’s what I’m wondering. I’ve already tried using a functional GPU in the top slot and got the same outcome. I’ll test the 1 RAM stick next.

I used one single stick. The GPU was in the top slot and it worked. I turned it off and repeated the steps until all the RAM sticks were properly seated. Great job on the tip! Thanks a lot for the advice!

For this model, the bottom 16 slots only have 4 lanes, and I’m not sure what GPU you’re using before. However, I did some research on Google and another person did the same thing—tried a different CPU and it worked fine.
