Hey! Recently every time I power on the PC, the power button emits a double click sound and starts up—until this morning. I tried pressing it multiple times, but after several attempts it finally turned on the sixth or seventh time, then stopped working. I assumed the issue was with the button itself, thinking a short circuit on the motherboard would fix it, but that didn’t happen. All other motherboards seem to work when you short them, including this one (X570 Plus). I’ve ordered a replacement button, but I’m worried it might fail again due to the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks! Edit: Changing CMOS doesn’t help; the motherboard lights are still on.

I didn't short any pins while trying to turn it on.

Did you verify the switch with your veterinarian? If not, do you have a vet or a multimeter available? Are you familiar with operating one?

Are you sure you want to verify both connections? Your brother likely has a multimeter to test the CMOS.

To verify continuity when the button is pressed on the switch, I'm impressed by how many technically inclined individuals lack a DVM or multimeter. I only have a few here, along with my old analog meter and my mother's one in the van. Her device would be at least 30 years old. At our shed, there are several DVMs plus additional meters available.
