I don’t have Pages, Keynote or Numbers installed by default; I rely on LibreOffice instead. When tables become too large they don’t automatically move to the next page—they just keep going, which bothers me a lot. Do you know anyone who uses LibreOffice?

Alternatively, you can use Office online. It’s completely free. Just sign in with your Microsoft account (hotmail, live, outlook, etc.), navigate to OneDrive, and you’ll be able to create or upload documents like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and edit them through your web browser. You can print or save the file once editing is finished. With Office online, documents will display correctly, with proper formatting and saving. If you’re a student using a school email, you can access Office for free on your Mac or Windows system. In fact, you receive five licenses for five PCs/Macs, plus five licenses for other devices such as iPad, iPhone, or Android tablets.

Google Docs seems to function well. It’s a good alternative to Office Online, especially for those new to the platform.

I tried it out. It looks clean and organized, but with a bit more advanced formatting it becomes difficult to use. When saving as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files, everyone’s layout gets messed up. Viewing it in Google Docs from teacher assignments also causes issues. Occasionally some text disappears, which cost me a mark on an assignment. I used Office Online for a while before free Office 365 for students was released. Next month it will expire since I graduated, and I’ll have to pay for the path.
