I recently acquired a Cisco Catalyst 2960-L to swap in for my TP-Link TL-SF1008D. I connected it using the same setup as before, but it isn’t working. After reading the manual and following the web interface instructions, my laptop hangs on “Identifying.” I’m unsure where I’m going wrong. Have others set up similar switches? Since I don’t have a parallel USB adapter, I’m limited in troubleshooting options right now. The switch passes POST and all indicators show normal activity, yet it doesn’t recognize whether the internet cable is connected or if it’s trying to configure without the cable. I’m fairly certain the device functions but there’s a configuration problem. What should I attempt next?

Yes, you can use an RJ-45 to RJ-45 cable to connect to the console. There is a port available, though it's not obvious what the other end connects to on the computer side.

You need a serial cable, and the Mini USB-B port is also an option.

It makes sense you'd have needed it eventually. Appreciate the understanding!

Another suggestion is to try Putty. You can get it from this link: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgta...atest.html

Recent update: The switch reset went smoothly, though I had to reinterpret the instructions because the -L version uses a different command format. Overall, it was manageable. Now the main task is understanding how to configure and operate this kind of hardware, haha. Appreciate the assistance!
