Have you noticed any problems with the game stuttering? I just completed Silent Hill 2 Remake on PC last night—it was really good, but it kept stuttering a lot. Did anyone else run into this issue? It was my biggest concern, though the graphics were great and the gameplay was solid. The stuttering really affected the visuals. I played it on two different systems: one with a 9950X and 64GB RAM, the other with an RTX 5090 on a HTPC, and both had the same problem. It was frustrating.
In essence, the performance looked erratic, like moving through a crowded space with frequent pauses. Even though the frame rate was decent, the stuttering was noticeable during loading phases. I installed the game on PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSDs on both systems, so the issue likely relates to the game engine or code itself.
It seems like a technical problem with the game. I increased the settings because it’s a single-player title, but both devices faced similar stuttering issues. I thought my expectations were too high, especially since UE games usually perform well—though not always. It was surprising given how smooth everything else felt. Both machines were powerful, but I still experienced the same stuttering. I’m considering a NewGame+ and adjusting settings, possibly lowering performance. I’ll post an update once I understand what’s happening. It feels like a major mistake on the developers’ part, considering the effort they invested. Off topic, but I was impressed by how the 7900 XTX handled the game on my TV. I assumed Radeon cards wouldn’t work, but they did.
The cost of a machine grows in direct proportion to its performance. The higher your investment, the smaller the gains become. The same applies to game settings—raising them too much results in diminishing returns and greater slowdown. Therefore, your expectations might be a bit unrealistic.
It's a really bad game, proving even a 5090 can't cope with it... I'd ask for a refund if possible. Honestly, the graphics and feel seem AI-made, probably just that. Sure, lowering the settings might help, but it'll still feel like a weak experience. The game could be entertaining, but the design and story are so dull, honestly.
Idk but it's probably poor direct storage implementation or something similar. It doesn't really matter what settings the game *will* stutter frequently, even if nothing much is going on...
I wasn't informed that UE5 includes a direct storage implementation. It seems likely it's meant to ease traversal delays. At the very least, SH2 appears to avoid using it. These are the two recognized problems with the SH2 OP—no indication they relate to animation stutters. How many UE5 titles has OP played would be my answer.
