Issue with SSD visibility in the lowest storage position.
I understand. You're managing three drives, one of which isn't on the board. Page 31 mentions that M2P shares bandwidth with the PCIe x4 port, likely where your third SSD adapter is placed. Page 11 states the x4 slot will operate at x2 when M2P is active. It seems the third SSD might not function at that speed. Updated March 1, 2023 by An0maly_76 Added more details
It's visible through the BIOS, but it's only available within the operating system.
It might be a driver problem. The adapter card could need an OS-compatible driver to be properly recognized.
The adapter card is x16. It could be competing with the GPU for bandwidth. Essentially, M2A uses x4 and M2P also uses x4, which means you're swapping half of your x16 lanes. If the GPU drops to x8, there simply aren't enough lanes left in that slot. You might want to try a SATA-NGFF adapter to see if it works on a SATA port, or check out this link... https://www.amazon.com/Aluminum-Enclosur...B08SBMDQL7
I focused the problem on the CPU constraints mentioned in the guide. The 10900k model handles 8x+4x+4x, while the 11900k supports 8x+4x+4x+4x, which explains its compatibility in certain slots without any added components.
Likely the top M.2 port is only available in the 11th generation due to those additional lanes. Essentially, the 11th generation provides another four lanes compared to the 10th, forcing the card to compete for GPU bandwidth. I adjusted my previous comment accordingly. They mention the M.2 restriction for the M2A port but don’t clarify the issue with the PCIe connections.
Well, some options remain. They offer different adapters that connect via SATA or USB ports. USB 3.1 could boost performance to full speed. If you have an available DIMM slot, there are DIMM.2 adapters to choose from, though I’d start with USB—SATA is slow, even with my WD Black 256MB drive reaching only 225 Mbps internally. USB 3.1 supports up to 10GBps for NVMe drives. Edited March 1, 2023 by An0maly_76 Updated, more details
