Issue with Sound Configuration Mismatch
Issue with Sound Configuration Mismatch
Hi everyone
I’m facing my first real sound problem and I’m not very technical, so I’m trying to figure it out. I’ve just started working with music on my PC and have been experimenting with a few DAW packages. I’ve been using Cakewalk for about a week or so, and recently downloaded Cubase Pro 13 to try learning more.
At first, everything seemed to work properly, even though I could barely do anything yet. I was following tutorials to get the hang of it, but whenever Cubase was open, I couldn’t get any sound from YouTube. ChatGPT suggested checking my PC’s sound settings and making sure no app is blocking the microphone. That’s when things started to change — after that, Cubase (or Cakewalk) wouldn’t let me hear anything, even though other audio on my PC worked fine and the program’s indicators showed a signal. Changing the sound settings back didn’t help, not even after several restarts.
Someone recommended installing ASIO4ALL drivers and trying that. It helped a bit. I switched the DAW to use this new driver, and now I can get sound from the DAWs (though with Cubase I still have to tweak audio settings a lot). But I still can’t record anything. It seems like it records and shows a signal, but when I stop, there’s nothing.
When I switch back to the General Low Latency drivers (the default in Cubase), there’s still no sound at all.
I’ve been adjusting the audio settings in the DAWs, but nothing seems to resolve the issue. It’s really frustrating.
Does this make sense to anyone? Does this situation point to a specific problem?
