I put in the Steam beta and tried Skyrim as a trial. The game is running, but I’m not picking up any voices. In the intro, only the horse sound is present.

Testing the new Proton feature in Steam seems typical for a Bethesda title across different operating systems. Verify the audio configuration and confirm it isn't attempting surround sound, as I experienced with Skyrim previously when my centre speaker failed and NPC dialogue disappeared while other audio remained intact. It appears the game was trying to broadcast any NPC sounds through the centre channel. Resolved the issue by switching to stereo mode, after which voices played correctly through the left and right speakers.

Check the OS audio and speaker configurations. It’s possible Skyrim doesn’t have a built-in stereo or surround mode, but you can verify in-game settings.

I've adjusted it to "digital stereo"... it seems digital since it uses HDMI...
