I want to set up Windows 7 on my system. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE Z97X Gaming 7 Rev 1.0. I was just fetching the drivers from the original site and found this file: marvell preinstall driver. It contains some SATA controller files that need to be installed before the Windows setup. After reviewing them, I noticed two directories: - amd64 - i386 My CPU is an Intel i5-4460, which is x64 architecture. I’m planning to install the x64 version of Windows 7, since my CPU is 32-bit and I don’t have any AMD parts. The folder names suggest I should pick the 64-bit one. But why does it label it as "AMD64"? I only have Intel and NVIDIA components. Should I go ahead with this installation?

amd designed the x86-64 instruction set, which is commonly referred to as amd64, yet it operates on any x86-64 processor.

You might choose Windows 7 because its security updates stop coming soon, giving you time to prepare and upgrade before the support ends.

Only security assistance? Everything is coming to an end. It's time to bid farewell to Windows 7—it did its job well!

A third-party update exists to obtain longer versions of Win7. However, Microsoft may disable it each day because you aren’t paying for ongoing support.

I don’t like Windows 10 and it’s likely I’ll never enjoy it. If it becomes the final operating system, I’ll move to Linux and use Wine to run games or just stop playing PC titles. Windows 10 is terrible (my personal take, no need to sound defensive), so I’ll steer clear of it.

I also enjoy using Win 7 over Win 10. There haven’t been any improvements; based on my experience, it tends to be less stable compared to my Win 7 setups. The start menu, tablet features, and touch options don’t really work well on desktops or laptops.
