has this been overlooked? or should it still be possible to handle? i searched online and it still indicates you can set it up. however, i have configured both a gmail and ATT account exactly as described, yet authentication fails during a test message, repeatedly prompting for my password and stating it isn’t being verified. despite this, i can manually log in through a browser. i confirmed there’s no two-step verification enabled on the emails, so it should work. the issue seems specific to outlook 2010 or something else. i’m using windows 11 24h2 and have an existing address in outlook that functions correctly.

adjust the ssl decryption configuration
Gmail: OAuth
Outlook 2016 and older versions may no longer work since OAuth isn't supported by these

SSL was configured properly. After spending the whole day searching for solutions, it became clear the wrong ID and password were completely incorrect. It seems that after a certain point, both ATT and Gmail started requiring security passwords. Once I obtained those and tried installing them again, everything worked smoothly. No more chasing my tail on this issue—now I know for sure. I’ve recorded everything so I won’t have to go through it again.
