I recently received a Ryzen 7 3700X and after upgrading, it’s still stuck at 4.2GHz even in balanced power mode. My previous 1600 managed to reach that speed once, but I changed a setting in my BIOS and now I can’t get it to adjust. In Power Saver mode it only drops to 2.2GHz, which feels limiting. I have a Crosshair Hero Vi installed on the latest BIOS for my motherboard. Any advice would be really helpful with this problem.

Check Ryzen Master directly for detailed performance info. Task Manager might not show all the specifics.

It seems you altered the CPU and accidentally disabled Task Manager, making it hard to check its real clock speed.

It comes down to mainly how different applications monitor clockspeed. You can read more about it here , here , and here . In HWInfo, there is actually another description of what's going on when you hover over Core Clocks. My 5800x, according to Task Manager doesn't go lower than 4.2Ghz either.
