2.4GHz or 5GHz – which offers better performance depends on your needs. "Drop" refers to the reduction in speed you experience, typically measured in Mbps, as you move away from the router. The exact loss varies based on distance and interference. The wall is usually constructed from materials like wood, drywall, or fiberglass.

Hi, we're operating at 2.4 GHz with a concrete wall. Our fiber connection is 100 MBPS, but we're only seeing 15 Mbps. The same network is being used across the whole hospital, including LAN cables for the first and second floors.

There are several issues with your setup. 2.4GHz offers decent coverage but can be affected by other 2.4GHz networks and devices using radio signals in that area, such as cordless phones, microwaves, Bluetooth, etc. Also, if your wireless router or access point doesn’t support 802.11n, it’s unlikely to achieve speeds close to 54Mbps, limiting your internet performance. I recommend upgrading to a model that supports WiFi 5. Concrete can greatly diminish the range of Wi-Fi, and the effect becomes more pronounced at higher frequencies. Consider adding another access point in regions with weak signal strength.

Thank you, I'll receive another access point and share the findings here.
