Issue with Quest 3 not connecting via link cable.
Hello, I'm checking if anyone else is facing issues with the link cable not maintaining power to the Q3 when using it for PCVR. The motherboard is an Asus TUF X670E connected via a Type-C port, and I'm using a Syntec link cable. I'm wondering if installing a PCIe expansion card that supports Type-C could help keep the Q3 powered during gameplay.
My Q3 performance is stable overall. It may dip slightly from full efficiency but will maintain consistent power levels over time. You could check the USB C output using an app on your phone—especially on Android, where dedicated tools exist. Aim for around 15 watts to ensure stability. Be aware that lower battery capacity usually results in quicker charging.
The search appears quite selective regarding the USB port it connects to (especially on AM5). Most of my USB 3 ports display a USB 2.0 connection, even USB C ones. I eventually transferred some devices to a PCIe USB card and found a Mobo port that the Quest 3 accepted, showing USB 3 speeds now with 800mA power delivery. However, I had to use a Kuject PD power cable to prevent slow discharge during tethered use. It’s functioning properly now with that cable, but be mindful of the exact connection order and timing—incorrect setup can stop charging or tethering. Detailed steps are in the manual, though it mentions: connect the original Quest transformer into the box via Kuject cable for extra power, wait about 15 seconds, then plug the cable into the headset, and finally connect the USB-A end to your PC. If charging doesn’t appear or the connection fails, repeat the process.
