Issue with PSU failure occurred unexpectedly.
I upgraded the PSU of my Lenovo m900 a year ago from Kijiji. During the process, I disconnected the cables and connected the new unit, using an adapter for the standard power connection. When I plugged it in, it started normally but didn’t light up when I pressed the power button. The keyboard, monitor, and CPU fan didn’t activate. I’ve tried various fixes but nothing worked. Any suggestions?
The prebuilt model comes with its own PSU and motherboard, yet I received a 24 to 10 pin adapter instead of what I expected (I thought it was a five-pin). I connected it using that adapter and also used the 4-pin CPU power cable.
It seems like the power supply unit might not be receiving the correct connection and is blocking startup. Are you changing the PSU for a reason? Did you install extra parts that demand more energy? Adding a dedicated GPU usually requires its own power connections, so make sure those are properly linked to the card.
The cable appears as described; the PSU fan is functioning, but everything else isn’t. I upgraded because the previous unit was failing, and I planned to install a more powerful GPU, though I haven’t done that yet (that’s another issue altogether).
It seems the adapter you're using might not match Lenovo's 10-pin standard, which could cause issues. Your computer is showing signs of trouble with the DVD drive, possibly due to power problems. Double-check the connection and ensure it's properly seated.
