I recently purchased a new power supply and assembled a system using my existing components (list of parts). Power supply: FPS HV Pro 650W CPU: Ryzen 5 3500G MB: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max Case: Aerocool Cylon After finishing the build, the system began sparking and burning right after turning it on. Once I powered it down, I suspected a factory defect, but I found that both USB 3.0 ports on the front panel had dual connectors—connecting them to the motherboard. Could using both types have caused the PSU to fail, or is this a genuine issue?

Your setup includes both USB3.0 and USB2.0 ports, meaning you had to link them together. If your power supply handled it correctly, the issue likely stems from a faulty PSU that might have caused damage.

Even with a tough short across the USB headers, they should be (should be) safeguarded to prevent major failure.
