Issue with PC not fully shutting down after extended usage.
I have an unusual issue.
My PC doesn't fully power off after extended use. The monitor shuts down, peripherals disconnect, but the CPU, GPU, case fans, and lights remain active. I've tried disabling fast startup and hibernation, but neither works.
PSU: model, make, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?
Check if it has been heavily used for gaming, video editing, or even mining.

Power down and unplug the device, then open the case.
Remove dust and debris, ensuring all connectors, cards, RAM, jumpers, and case connections are securely installed.
Examine thoroughly with a bright flashlight for any signs of damage.
When, at all, does the system completely stop after more than five hours...? In my mind, it seems the main factor is related to heat. Something becomes warm, it expands, and even though connections stay active despite switches being left open, more details are needed to confirm if heat plays a role. I don’t have any personal stake either way...
It’s important to note that eventually, the PC will cool down and return to its normal or shutdown state.
For future reference, when the system restarts, check Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer. The goal is to understand what the system was doing or attempting before any shutdowns occurred. For instance, it might have been trying to complete an update that became stuck and couldn’t finish.
Search the Reliability History for error codes, warnings, and informational events. Start with the Reliability History—it’s more user-friendly and can show a clearer timeline, possibly revealing patterns. Event Viewer takes longer to explore and interpret.
Additional clue could be a background process that blocks shutdown, such as an update, backup, or even a call to "phone home."
