The 7000 series can handle up to 100°C, while the 5900x and higher manage up to 91°C. When the temperature reaches 91°C, the 3800x uses 1 CPU die of 8, which works well with air cooling. However, it isn't ideal when multiple dies are placed under an air cooler—it's similar to cooling two CPUs on one cooler. The same applies to the 2700x, which has a single CPU die.
