Issue with PC freezing and emitting a beep during gaming?
Hello, I've been facing several issues with my PC. Initially, I experienced BSODs, so I upgraded the GPU, case, added more fans, improved the power supply, increased RAM by 32GB, while keeping the old CPU and motherboard. Despite these changes, problems persist. After installing numerous updates and drivers, it's been three days without a BSOD. Now, whenever I play Rust, I encounter strange crashes—first a beeping sound, then three beeps through headphones, followed by significant lag in mouse movement, causing pixels to shift every few seconds. The beeping stops once I close Rust via Task Manager. I’m certain it’s not related to temperature; my temperatures remain stable at 50-60°C during use.
Here’s a summary of my setup:
CPU: i9 9900K
GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 10GB Ultra
Motherboard: MSI MGP Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64GB
Power Supply: Corsair RM850x
Case: H9 Flow with 9 fans
Water Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53
Operating System: Windows 10
Storage: Samsung SSD & M.2 Evo
I’m really frustrated and would appreciate help from someone here, as I feel like I’m going crazy. I’ve tried everything you can suggest—watching YouTube tutorials, reading articles—but nothing has resolved the issue.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Please share your PSU age.
What is your motherboard BIOS version?
I've tried everything you can think of.
What have you done before this thread was created? I want to avoid repeating what you've already tried.
Before the upgrade, I had Bsod issues. I upgraded the GPU, case, added more fans and power supply, increased RAM by 32GB, and kept the old CPU and motherboard.
Your current specs might be useful—consider running DDU, removing all GPU drives (not just Nvidia), and reinstalling with the latest driver from Nvidia's support site. Use an elevated command: Right-click installer > Run as Administrator.
For your convenience!
The PSU has been replaced and it's brand new.
Bios version/date: 1.C0, 10/20/2022
Smbios: 2.8
Prior to the upgrade, I was using an outdated w10, so I chose to purchase a brand new w10 and installed it. All drivers were updated and the GPU drivers were installed via the Nvidia driver page.
I performed memory diagnostics and everything appeared normal. I also ran an SCF scan and several files were resolved.
The main reason for the upgrade was that with the previous build I was experiencing all the BSODs that I had been seeing three days earlier with this new system. I had only 5 fans, an MSI RX 2080 Super, and a 750PSU identical to the motherboard and CPU.
