I have had issue with packet loss for about month, it gets better/worst from time to time but packetloss is here. I generally dont have any packtloss in morning or untill 3-4 pm, after that it starts and it only gets worst and worst (from 5% up to 20%).. I tested this on 2 different PC's ingames or using CMD to ping www.google.com. Games do more then 1 ping per second which overall shows higher packetloss then CMD pings.. Now im looking for some kind of software that will test packetloss more then 1 ping per second.. P.S. Cable company changed their router, it didnt help, i called them many times, and all i get "we are looking into your problem"..

Learning basic now? I'll code it from scratch. It's simple!

Likely not very useful. I'm confident there are some effective programs that would handle the task well, and after testing, I only checked one per second.

Pingplotter is the tool I rely on for diagnosing network issues between locations.

I'm curious if the problem is related to a signal issue or an overloaded node. A signal issue is usually straightforward to check if you have access to your modem's diagnostic pages through your ISP. If it's a node problem, they probably won't disclose it and might take longer to resolve. The congestion likely increases around 3-4 PM when many people return home and go online. Cable internet typically uses Fiber to the node, and based on my research, Comcast provides about 10 Gbps fiber connections in the area. Nodes usually serve around 130 people, but historically they could support 100-300. They reduced node capacity mainly because of the need for higher bandwidth with Gigabit services.

It’s completely overwhelmed. I recently upgraded a 1gig link on one of our remotes, and around 3-4pm the gig link would get saturated. I’m referring to 400 customers off that chassis, with peak times seeing a 70% drop as the queue filled up quickly. We had to wait until the hardware was installed before things improved. Considering Christmas was just a month ago, imagine all the new 4k TVs hitting the market and the extra bandwidth being taken. This is definitely happening, and sadly there’s nothing he can do about it.

Fortunately, I'm on Comcast and we have a 1TB limit. That limits streaming high-quality 4K videos.

This explains why data limits make sense.

No alternative ISP? Are there phone providers close to you?
