Issue with Overclock program functionality
Issue with Overclock program functionality
Hi all, My friend set up some overclocking tools on my machine. After a few months, I replaced the SSD and began from scratch with a new Windows version. Despite thinking the change should remove the overclock, it still remains connected to the CPU. I’m wondering if anyone has faced this issue before or knows how to resolve it?
I understand the software is still linked because it loads on the BIOS screen with a load bar and an overclock progress indicator next to it. My CPU model is 8700k.
What does full system spec refer to?
Which overclocking software are you asking about?
OC software
doesn't load in the BIOS,
but a BIOS can include built-in OC tools.
Any OC created in the software beforehand might just adjust default BIOS settings, so it will work even if the software isn't present afterward.
systems specs are as follows: mobo: asus rog maximus x hero (wifi version), cpu - 8700k, gpu - asus rog strix 1070, ram - corsair vengence 3200mz, cooler - h100i v2. It’s not clear what software he was using; i was planning to replace it with a new ssd but the lingering software remains. That makes sense. Would loading a default profile from bios help remove it? A term i often hear is flashing my mobo.
Avoid flashing it; reset it instead. A jumper should be moved onto your board. Alternatively, you can access the bios and set default values.
