I think the mods might be the cause of the issue. I stopped using them a while back because of performance issues and other problems they caused. It's not uncommon for a game mod to lead to system problems.
Have you checked for an SFC scan after restoring an image to see if any system or Open AL files were damaged by that Kaspersky uninstall?
