Hello, I recently installed a brand new PC but encountered a black screen after booting.
Issues observed:
- CPU LED on motherboard is red
- DRAM LED on motherboard is orange
- GPU fans are not spinning
- Black display appears when connected via displayport to the GPU

System specifications:
[RAM] - Corsair 32 GB KIT DDR5 6000MT/s CL36
[GPU] - SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING 16G
[MOBO] - MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI
[CPU] - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
[AIO] - ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 Pro A-RGB Black
[PSU] - Corsair RM1000x ATX 3.1
[CASE] - Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL

Troubleshooting steps completed:
- Swapped RAM sticks (B2 into A2 and vice versa)
- Allowed the system to run for 30 minutes as suggested for memory training

Anyone have similar experiences with this problem on the motherboard? I think the CPU or RAM might be failing, so the GPU isn’t being checked.
Thank you.

It might be that the MOBO is not functioning correctly.
1. Review the fundamentals first
• Confirm your monitor is turned on and the cable (HDMI/DisplayPort) is securely attached to the GPU or motherboard.
• If your CPU lacks built‑in graphics, connect the monitor directly to the GPU, not through the motherboard port.
2. Check GPU placement and power supply
• Re‑install the graphics card — it may appear seated but not fully engaged.
• Make sure the PCIe power cables from the power supply reach the GPU correctly.
3. RAM problems
• Incorrectly seated RAM can lead to a black screen. Try re‑seating the modules.
• When using multiple sticks, test with just one in the designated slot.
4. Motherboard and CPU connections
• Verify that the 24‑pin ATX and 8‑pin CPU power connectors are properly connected.
• Ensure the CPU cooler is correctly installed and the CPU fan header is linked.
5. BIOS and POST signals
• Many boards display debug LEDs or emit beep codes. Observe any lights or sounds — these can indicate RAM, CPU, or GPU faults.
• If the system fails to power on at all, the issue may lie with the power supply unit.
Since you’re thorough, begin by rechecking RAM and GPU connections, then inspect power links. If the problem persists, share your motherboard’s status (LEDs, beeps, fan behavior) — that will aid in identifying the root cause.
I also ran a quick CO-Pilot search to see if any relevant information could assist.

Attempted both RAM units separately in three different slots.
Inspected power cables for GPU (two 6+2 pin), CPU (two 8 pin) and motherboard, all secure – tried disconnecting and reconnecting.
Checked power cables on the PSU side as well.
Confirmed the liquid cooler isn’t overly tight on the CPU and slightly released pressure.
Ensured the GPU is correctly seated in the PCIe slot.
Status remains unchanged: black screen with red CPU LED on motherboard plus orange DRAM light.
Also noticed CPU fan on the liquid cooler isn’t spinning (ARGB works).
Tested CPU_FAN1 slot on the motherboard and PUMP_SYS1 on the motherboard, but no improvement.
After removing the AIO, I booted without it – same result.
Then removed the GPU and tried using the CPU’s built-in graphics – still no change.
Given the persistent issues with the CPU LED and fan not spinning, I suspect a problem with the motherboard and ordered a new one.

Considering a bent pin on the motherboard. Have you looked at the CPU socket for bent pins?

I checked the motherboard visually and re-settled the CPU. Recently, I received a new motherboard of the same type, but the problem persists. It seems to be related to the power supply or the CPU at this stage. Tomorrow I will install both parts brand new to determine the cause.
