My system has been running for about two years now, and it hasn’t had any network problems before. Recently, Windows stopped recognizing any Ethernet connections on my motherboard. The built-in Wi-Fi also appears intermittently and sometimes disappears entirely, requiring a power cycle of the power supply to restore visibility. I’ve experienced several USB power issues during gaming or streaming sessions, especially after updating my BIOS from F12e to F36d—though I’m unsure if that fixed the USB problems. I’ve tried updating drivers via Gigabyte’s APP Center, switching cables, using another device to test the port, and even enabled/disabled the Ethernet adapter in Windows settings. My PC specs include Windows 10 Education 64-bit, Gigabyte Aorus Pro WiFi X570 (BIOS F36d), AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, a GTX 3060 Ti, Corsair RM750x (750W), and G.Skill Aegis RAM. I’m also running a 1TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 drive and have the Rocket 4.0 SSD. I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s wrong and whether a new motherboard, power supply, or CPU might be needed soon. Thank you for your assistance!

Before swapping any parts, attempt to boot from an Ubuntu live USB and check for Ethernet problems on Linux. If issues persist, obtain a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter (available on 2.5Gb if desired) and a 1 gig adapter. Ensure you purchase a reputable brand, not a generic one. Here’s a link to a 1 gig adapter I found: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Foldable-...159&sr=8-3 and a 2.5 gig adapter, if you don’t have a 2.5 gig capable network (likely it’s 1 gig), there’s no need to buy the higher speed one. Another option is: https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Ethernet...Caps%2C405

It seems the port was the problem, not the connection itself. My roommate thought the link from my port to his laptop worked, but it didn’t. It looks like another port in the room has a better setup. The issue should be fixed now since I have a suitable cable. Thanks for your help! I’ll discuss this with my school, but I’m not sure they can resolve it. Luckily, there’s another port available.
