I attempted to connect the second monitor via the motherboard, but the PC failed to recognize it. I updated the GPU drivers thinking it was properly connected, though there was only one available slot for cables.

The CPU might be an i5 8400f. Since F models lack an integrated graphics card, connecting a monitor directly to the motherboard won't help. If it's another model, you could use a screen linked to the integrated graphics while another is connected to the GPU, but the BIOS settings need to be enabled.

He might be able to assist. Since he’s running the same CPU (an i5 9600K), he could understand the precise settings to enable or disable.
