I recently received my new build via mail last week, but the audio quality has been quite poor and muffled, even after changing sound cards and headphones. I’ve switched back to Windows 10 because it’s compatible with Windows 11, as some sound cards aren’t fully supported by the latter. I’ve adjusted nearly every sound setting and tried various third-party equalizers like APO Equalizer, but they didn’t help. The built-in audio is also disabled in the BIOS, which I thought might be causing the problem with the new card. My motherboard is an MSI Z690 A Pro DDR5, and I’m currently using the Asus Xonar SE sound card. I’ve experienced similar issues with a Sound Blaster Audigy RX5, but that didn’t resolve the issue.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Please verify that your motherboard's BIOS is current. Which version of Windows 10 are you using? Regarding your drivers, have you obtained the most recent one from Asus's support page? If yes, did you install it yourself via an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator? It might also be helpful to mention your audio equipment and how it's connected.

I'm using Windows 10 version 19044.1566, which seems to be the latest available. With the built-in audio, updated drivers, and my old Logitech 2.1 speakers, I still experience the same muffled sound even when using headphones. These are identical speakers I used on my previous PC build two weeks ago. Regarding the BIOS, I'm not certain about its update status and feel uncertain about making changes myself.

Did you locate a solution? I'm facing the identical problem with a z690 tomahawk.
