I saved a version of MS Office 2010 on my PC and added a language pack from the MS website. The installation failed with an error stating no Office was found. Recently, this occurred about a month ago. Now, when I tried to open PP, it began setting up Office and then restarted. After several restarts, error messages kept appearing. I attempted a system restore, but once it finished, a message appeared indicating it couldn't complete, even though files were changed. The same issue happened with Word—previously I could use it without problems, but now it also fails. I’m using Windows 7 64-bit, and I’m sure about the details! How can I remove Office or resolve this? Thank you very much for your help.

Have you ever used a registry cleaner or encountered a virus/malware during the same Windows setup? That could be the reason, even though everything seems normal now. Your machine was definitely in a different state before this. What you did just refreshed it for you. Here’s a possible approach (fully removes Office, all settings and configurations will be erased):

- Uninstall Office via this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971179/
- After completion, restart your system and verify Program & Features, ensuring Office is removed.
- Navigate to the Office installation folder and confirm it’s gone.
- Clear your Temp directory (C:\Users\<Account Name>\AppData\Local\Temp — remember AppData is hidden).
- Open regedit and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft
- Delete the “Office” folder (key).
- Proceed to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
- Remove the “Office” folder (key).
- Return to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
- Go to C:\Users\<ACCOUNT NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft
- Delete the Office folder.
- Restart your system and reinstall Office.
