the laptop struggles to link with the school network. it works briefly before showing an error about connection failure. the system is current and running kernel 4.18.12-1.

In my school experience, I had to enable Protected EAP or PEAP authentication, set it as automatic, and manually configure proxy settings for internet use. For actual terminal access, run the command in the terminal before any web activity: env http_proxy=http://{username}:{password}@{proxy ip}:{port}} bash. This ensures the proxy works correctly, letting tools like Octopi, W3M, and curl function properly.
