Hey everyone! This is my first time posting, so I hope I get everything right. Basically, the problem has been happening for years. Sometimes it occurs very often, other times it goes months without a single incident. To put it simply: whenever I play games or stream (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), I’ll suddenly lose connection for a brief moment. It’s super annoying in games, especially when you’re leading the leaderboard and then everything cuts out.

Since I work in maritime, I’m often away on boats, so it seems like the issue only shows up after I return home and play a lot. It feels like it disappears once I’m back for a while. I’m using a wired connection, but there are three wireless computers in the house too. They don’t seem to drop out like me do. There are also a few wireless printers on the network, and sometimes my phone gets connected to the Wi-Fi. I think I have one of the best packages available.

I’ve tried fixing it myself by changing things like port forwarding, using a different Ethernet cable, updating the network card, adjusting the adapter settings, switching the link speed to 1GB/s full duplex, and even resetting the router before starting games. None of these worked. I’m still on Windows 7, which is about to be upgraded to something newer (maybe 10). If anyone has tips or advice, please share! Also, let me know if you need more details. Thanks in advance for your help!

I think I've resolved it finally! It was just a matter of entering my network and assigning a static IP. All that effort paid off with such a straightforward fix. Oh well.
