Issue with Kraken X73 regarding Pump header inquiry.
Hello, I bought the Kraken X73 recently at a low price. The unit is brand new, but it comes with cables from the previous model, X72, which has flat 9-pin connectors instead of the 2 rows of 10-pin connectors it should have. There’s no second-hand market for the correct cable right now. I reached out to NZXT support to see if they can help. I tested all the fans and connected the SATA cable, then placed the "CPU_PUMP" cable into the motherboard. My concern is... What does the 10-pin connector do? Is it for powering the pump or for RGB lighting? Should I run the PC without the pump header attached? Will it work? Thanks in advance.
X72: So on that flat connector I see a connector for the fans (you plug in the included PWM splitter), SATA Power and Pump tach. X73: On this smaller connector I see pump tach, SATA power and RGB control for some reason (maybe if you don't do it through USB?).
I believe this won’t work as planned. From what you observed, everything seems linked to the flat 9-pin connector, making it hard to connect the pump. I think the fans might run but the pump won’t. Are there any alternatives I could try? Do you need help finding a replacement or getting the cables? They’re quite costly. The X72 pump cable costs £30 (which I already have), so I’m unsure what the price would be for an X73 if it were available. Hopefully, NZXT support won’t overlook my concerns.
NZXT provided me with the cable bag for the Kraken X at a low price. Delivery is expected in two weeks. For anyone facing similar issues, reach out to live support—they can set up a personalized order.
