Hello everyone,
I recently made a mistake by inserting the incorrect AC 12V adapter into an Android Box that needed DC 5V 2A. This led to the device failing, emitting smoke and causing a component to burn on its motherboard. The adapter was also connected to my power strip surge protector, which had other devices like my PC and monitor. I’m wondering if the Android Box’s failure might affect the other connected devices. So far, my monitor and PC appear to be functioning properly.

It seems unlikely. The released smoke likely prevented the incorrect voltage from traveling further than it should have.

Connected items through the shared power outlet are likely fine.
Anything linked to that AC adapter—directly or indirectly—should be checked until confirmed functional.

Hello everyone,
Last week I mistakenly connected the incorrect AC 12V adapter to an Android Box that needed DC 5V 2A. This led to the device malfunctioning, producing a small smoke release and causing a component to burn on the motherboard. The adapter was also plugged into my outlet surge protector, which had other devices connected such as my PC and monitor. I’m wondering if the Android Box’s failure might have affected the other devices connected to the surge protector.
So far, I’ve tested each device and everything seems to be functioning properly.
Thanks.

Likely the voltage regulator is damaged and could be fixed. The other devices are unaffected by this issue.
