Issue with GSYNC in desktop settings (FreeSync Monitor)
I recently switched to an RTX 4070 replacing a Vega 56 and encountered tearing in most apps such as browsers, editors, and others. GSYNC functions properly in games and some media players when the overlay appears. Is this normal or should I be doing something wrong? My search for similar problems only found issues in games, which is why I wrote this post. I turned on Gsync in both windowed and fullscreen settings, set the refresh rate to 144Hz on Windows, and the monitor OS now shows it. With the Vega 56 the screen remained stable without tearing, just like in games. Another factor could be that when playing a game and using a secondary monitor at 30fps, the effect appeared, whereas it didn’t with the Vega. This issue is minor since it mainly affected apps with limited movement, but it bothers me because it reminded me of how smooth the old GPU ran.
