I put in a few Windows Update updates two days ago (version 22H2) and now my GPU is always at full capacity, with frame rates dropping sharply in every game except desktop or web browsing. Even loading screens that usually use 4-10% are now at 80-100%.

I attempted to use the "Go Back" option in Windows Update, but it reported it wasn’t available.

Baulder's Gate 3 was stable at 60 fps with 60-70% usage, but now it’s struggling to reach double digits while running at full load. Other games like CK3, Madden23, TWWH3, Pathfinder, HOI4, and Elden Ring are also performing poorly—though Elden Ring is only down about 30%, while the rest are 70-80% worse.

The updates applied were:
- 2023-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5029263)
- 2023-08 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5028948)
- 2023-08 .NET 6.0.21 Security Update for x64 Client (KB5029688)

Details:
Windows 11 Home 10.0.22621, Intel i7-13700k, Asus Z690-A Prime, EVGA 3080 FTW3, 32 GB G.Skill Trident DDR5 7200, two WD Blue SN570 2TB M.2 drives.

Any suggestions or fixes? No new Windows updates, no recent NVIDIA patches, and I’ve reinstalled the driver already. All firmware appears current. My last option is to reinstall an older Windows version, though I upgraded only three months ago and backed up in Windows 10—uncertain if that would help.

Yeah, that was my final option but after battling it for a few days I feel like I have no choice left. If I do a fresh install of the nvidia driver it functions but only until I restart the computer; which feels strange, but I believe I'm out of alternatives.
