I purchased a new 1440p monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate to enhance my gaming experience on my laptop. However, I'm encountering issues with achieving higher frame rates. I'm connected via a Thunderbolt 4 to DisplayPort 1.4 adapter, using the appropriate cable. In Windows settings, I've adjusted the refresh rate to 240Hz, but the monitor only displays 240Hz on the desktop. When launching games, the performance caps at 60fps. I've attempted to set a target refresh rate in several titles, including Vsync and on Forza Horizon 4, but the monitor remains stuck at 60fps. Could you help identify the cause or suggest a solution?

Need additional information. What specifications are you looking for? Which laptop, monitor, or TV would you like details on?

The laptop features a GIGABYTE Aero 16 equipped with an i7-12700H, RTX 3070Ti, and 32GB DDR5 RAM. The monitor is a GIGABYTE M27Q-X offering 1440p at 240Hz with IPS technology. The TV model is an LG C2, supporting 4K at 120Hz and using OLED panels. Connections are made via DisplayPort 1.4 for the monitor and HDMI 2.1 for the TV. The monitor only supports HDMI 2.0, so I would use a different cable if needed. Both displays are linked to the laptop using Thunderbolt 4 adapters.

I believe I've identified the issue. I turned off AMD AdaptiveSync on my monitor to attempt a fix for screen tearing in PCBS2, which appears to have resolved it. I'm uncertain if the Nvidia GPU is incompatible or if using a 60Hz laptop screen is the problem, but it worked. If anyone has suggestions on re-enabling AdaptiveSync or increasing the frame rate, please share your thoughts.
