For some time now, launching an interface in any game leads to noticeable stuttering and a sharp drop in FPS, affecting not just the game but also my entire PC. With two monitors, I’ve observed that switching from a game to a browser causes a significant performance decline, even when the game isn’t actively running. I think this is because the system prioritizes the focused application. In every game I play, opening menus, chat bars, or console commands results in the game’s performance collapsing completely and stops until I close whatever is open.

At first, I assumed it was just Ark. This issue appears whenever I access the character interface, inventory, or chat bar. I’ve experienced frequent stuttering in Ark when GeForce overlay is enabled, similar problems occur in Beasts of Bermuda during menu customization or when opening chat, and even in WoW when navigating options. The only game where I haven’t faced these problems is LoL. It tends to cause my RAM usage to spike, though I have a 16GB system with a solid build that’s still over two years old. The only changes I made were installing two new SSDs (500GB on one drive and 1TB on the other), which was months ago and didn’t cause any issues.

Beyond these instances, most games run smoothly at high settings with around 45-60 FPS, rarely exceeding 72% RAM usage while multiple applications remain open. My CPU usage is also much lower than during peak gameplay.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I completely missed trying to close Wallpaper Engine, and guess what? It solved the issue right away.
