Issue with excessive heat in Dell Latitude E6530.
Hi there, I recently bought a Dell Latitude E6530 with an i7 3720QM processor and a Nvidia NVS5200M GPU. When it arrived, the fan was faulty, so I swapped it out and reattached both the GPU and CPU after cleaning everything thoroughly. I used Noctua cleaning wipes and applied Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste afterward. While reassembling, I tightened the screws for the heatsink in the specified order, using springs instead of a rigid mount. During idle mode in hwinfo64, the CPU usage is around 27% average, and the package temperature sits at about 68°C. The fan runs at full speed, but the temperatures are quite high at idle with the fan set to 100%. When I play Minecraft 1.12.2 with several mods, my CPU often hits 90+ degrees at roughly 55% load. With throttling enabled to cap power at 35W, it usually stays around 105°C, which triggers thermal throttling. Despite this, the GPU never exceeds 75°C even when running demanding games, and I’m using Windows 11 with ambient temps never going above 75°F (23°C). All mounting points are secure. Could you assist in finding a fix? I’ve attached a hwinfo64 report for your reference. SUPERNERDS-E-SE.HTM SUPERNERDS-E-SE.HTM
