Issue with differing RAM speeds in the ASUS TUF GAMING FX505DY model
I just purchased this laptop and thought upgrading to 8GB from 4GB was necessary because I couldn’t afford a larger model. I made a mistake by not using the proper tools to verify my existing RAM. The Task Manager showed 2400 MHz, which seemed strange since the spec sheet said 2666 MHz. Later, when I bought another 4GB DDR4 stick online during a quieter work period, I discovered CPU-Z listed my RAM as 2666 MHz. Will this actually function? I’m aware that with a mismatched memory in my older Core i5-6200U laptop it would still work, but this one uses AMD Ryzen 5-3550H and I’m concerned about compatibility.
It will function properly, operating at 2400Mhz—the maximum rate both devices support.
Thank you for the response. I plan to install this module on Monday and am hoping it functions properly. Fingers crossed!
